Abstract

•Nanoporous alumino- and borosilicate materials were synthesised using an EISA method.•These materials effectively catalyse the Meinwald rearrangement of epoxides.•The transformations proceed efficiently in dimethyl carbonate.•The catalysts can be effectively recycled without a significant decreasing catalytic activity.

Nanoporous alumino- and borosilicate materials, produced using an evaporation-induced self-assembly approach (EISA), efficiently catalyse the Meinwald rearrangement of epoxides in dimethyl carbonate (DMC) to produce the corresponding carbonyl compounds in high yield and excellent selectivity.
