Abstract

•One-pot synthesis of graphene–BiOBr composites.•Graphene can elevate the conduction band of BiOBr.•BiOBr–GR showed high photocatalytic activity for ROS photocatalytic generation.

Graphene oxide (GO), BiOBr and graphene–BiOBr nanosheets composites (BiOBr–RG) were synthesized and characterized. It can be found that except for BiOBr nanosheets with pure tetragonal phase were grown uniformly on the graphene surface, little graphene layer also can load on the surface of BiOBr evenly. And we found that the graphene can change the conduction band (CB) and valence band (VB) of BiOBr toward enhanced photocatalytic activity for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation than that of BiOBr under visible-light irradiation.
