Abstract

•Carbon-supported Fe@Pd core-shell catalyst was synthesized.•The catalyst exhibited efficient catalytic activity for Suzuki reaction in H2O.•The catalyst could be magnetically isolated with a magnet.•The yield was above 86% after reusing at least 5 times.

In this work, a novel catalyst Fe@Pd/C was synthesized by sequential reduction method. The core–shell catalyst exhibited efficient catalytic activity in Suzuki coupling reaction at mild condition in water. Moreover, the catalyst could be recycled by external magnetic field and the yields achieved above 86% after reused at least 5 times.

Graphical abstractIn this work, we report a facile route for the synthesis of carbon-supported Fe@Pd core–shell NPs. The core–shell catalyst exhibited efficient catalytic activity in Suzuki coupling reaction in mild condition in aqueous solution. Furthermore, the catalyst could be easily separated by a magnet, and could be used repeatedly 5 times with minor variation of catalytic activity.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
