Praseodymium oxide doped with Bi for diesel soot oxidation at low temperature
Abstract

Effects of dopant and promoter on oxidation activity to carbon upon Pr6O11 based oxide were investigated. It was found that Pr4.8Bi1.2O11 is highly active to carbon oxidation and oxidation of graphitic carbon occurs at 550 K at tight contact mode, which is much lower than that of the CeO2 based conventional catalyst. Furthermore, loading of CeO2 promoter is highly effective for decreasing the ignition temperature of Pr4.8Bi1.2O11 to carbon oxidation. The actual diesel soot can be oxidized at temperature as low as 473 K using CeO2/Pr4.8Bi1.2O11 in the presence of CO2 and H2O.
