Abstract

Aerobic oxidation of trimethylsilyl ethers to the corresponding carbonyl compounds has been investigated using various metallophthalocyanines in different ionic liquids (IL) and classical solvents. The best catalyst for this transformation was cobalt (II) tetrasulfophthalocyanine (CoTSPc) in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([bmim]Cl). The catalyst and IL can be recycled and reused for several times without any significant loss of catalytic activity. Molecular oxygen as oxidant would be the most important method because it is environmental friendly.
