Abstract

Different cinchona alkaloid ester derivatives have been prepared and evaluated as catalysts in the asymmetric “interrupted” Feist–Bénary (IFB) reaction of bromoketoesters with 1,3-cyclohexadione. The corresponding chiral hydroxyl dihydrofurans have been obtained in excellent yields and with up to 94% ee.
