Abstract

Rapid and efficient acylation of various primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols proceeds with acetic anhydride in the presence of catalytic amount of H5PV2Mo10O40 under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. The corresponding acetates were obtained in very high yields with dramatic reduction of reaction time in comparison with other reported methods.
