Abstract

The catalysts composed of titanocene dichloride (Cp2TiCl2) and Lewis base were developed to catalyze the coupling reaction of epoxides and CO2 under mild conditions to generate the relevant cyclic carbonates. The effects of reaction variables on the catalytic performance were studied in detail and indicated an optimized reaction temperature of 150 °C, solvent tetrahydrofuran (THF) and tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as Lewis base. Under the optimized reaction condition, styrene carbonate was obtained in 98.5% yield within 45 min.
