Abstract

An efficient three-component synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidinones using trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) as a mild, homogeneous and neutral catalyst for Biginelli reaction in ethanol or DMF under reflux condition and microwave irradiation is described. Yields are excellent in either of the two conditions.
