Abstract

N-Methylpyrrolidin-2-one hydrotribromide (MPHT) was found to be an efficient catalyst for the oxidation of various aromatic aldehydes to carboxylic acids using aq. hydrogen peroxide as oxidant in excellent yields under mild reaction conditions.
