A simple, efficient and green procedure for Knoevenagel reaction in [MMIm][MSO4] ionic liquid
Abstract

The Knoevenagel reaction between aryl aldehydes and malononitrile proceeds efficiently in high yield at room temperature with 1,3-dimethylimidazolium methyl sulfate as solvent and glycine as catalyst. Work-up is very simple and the products do not need to be purified. A recycling study confirmed that the solvent can be reused multiple times without activity loss.
