Some aspects of the direct synthesis of platinum containing carbons by template assisted routes
Abstract

Several aspects of the direct synthesis of noble metal containing carbons by template assisted routes are discussed. Commercial available silica as well as in situ formed silica were used as templates. The synthesis solutions consisted in different carbon precursors such as sucrose, pyrrole and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and hexachloro platinum acid as the metal source. The resulting materials are characterized by nitrogen adsorption at 77 K, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results are discussed regarding pore system development, metal particle size, and surface composition.
